in-person classes

My teaching objective is to create a positive environment, empowering students to take risks, ask questions and pursue their own individual artistic path. My method involves sharing some aspects of my own process, aiming to help students build tangible foundational skills and to offer guidance about materials. I also focus on mindset and thought process as important aspects of creating art.

Plein Air Painting Workshop

June 5, 6 and 7, 2024
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Instructor: Tracy Everly (

Every day spent painting outside is an opportunity to enjoy the moment and grow as a painter. This workshop offers a guided learning opportunity to immerse yourself in a multi-day experience painting outdoors with Tracy and a like-minded group of artists. We will painting together in and around Duxbury, MA.

Our focus will be on simplifying the majesty of what we see and creating paintings that are true and also personal. We’ll talk about selecting a motif, composing, using value to create structure, creating color harmony, and more. We will also discuss equally-important behaviors such as actively looking and maintaining focus.

The days will include:

  • Live painting demos
  • Discussion
  • Ample time to paint
  • Individual guidance and feedback
  • Connection with like-minded artists
  • Fun. Let’s not forget that painting en plein air is joyful!

Suitable for all levels of experience, though some plein air experience is helpful. If you have never painted outside before, please contact Tracy in advance of purchasing materials if you have questions.
